1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to provide a clear, fair, and transparent process through which students may lodge complaints or grievances related to their educational experience, and to ensure timely and effective resolution of such issues.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all students enrolled and covers grievances related to, but not limited to:

  • Academic concerns (e.g., grading disputes, unfair treatment by instructors)
  • Discrimination or harassment
  • Student services
  • Administrative decisions or procedures

3. Guiding Principles

  • Confidentiality: All grievances will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Fairness and Impartiality: All parties will be treated fairly and equitably.
  • Non-Retaliation: Students will not face retaliation for filing a grievance in good faith.
  • Timeliness: Grievances will be addressed in a timely manner.

4. Informal Resolution

Students are encouraged to first seek informal resolution by discussing the issue directly with the individual or department involved, if they feel safe and comfortable doing so.

If the issue is not resolved informally, the student may proceed with the formal grievance process.

    • Desired resolution

  Step 2: Acknowledgment and Review

  • The grievance will be acknowledged in writing within 5 business days.
  • A designated official will review the grievance and may request additional      information or conduct interviews.

  Step 3: Decision and Resolution

  • A decision will be made within 15 business days of receipt of all necessary information.
  • The student will receive a written response outlining the findings and any actions taken.

6. Appeal Process

  • If dissatisfied with the outcome, the student may appeal the decision in writing within 10 business days of receiving the decision.
  • The appeal must state the grounds for the appeal (e.g., procedural error, new evidence).
